"Greg's Prisoners"

Artist Statement

"First and foremost, I want to entertain my audience and in so doing share the joy that I feel, experience an affirmation of life when I capture that moment of sunlight refracted on the shapes on my canvas.

I want to cause an emotional response, a joyous response in my viewer, and have the viewer feel the same excitement I do when my eyes alight on a banquet of color.

A few strokes of a brush make a mark and instantly an entire illusion is created! What magic!"

Biography

Eve P. Comstock is a traditional artist, who specializes in representational works which include still lives, florals, landscapes and anything else that captures her imagination, enthusiasm and passion.  After attending Paier College of Art, Eve worked as an illustrator and graphic artist before striking out on her own as a free lance illustrator and muralist while at the same time fulfilling fine art commissions via local interior designers, restaurants, and corporations. Eve has won numerous professional awards in the Connecticut and New England region. She is a member of the Connecticut Watercolor Society as well as the Madison Art Society. Her studio is located in North Branford, Connecticut.

Because Eve was always involved either directly or indirectly in the world of interiors, much of her paintings depict decorative artifacts that speak of past history, of objects that tell a story, of her own family history. Her paintings also address existential issues: the very brief beauty of a flower in full bloom, its powerful color penetrated by dazzling sunlight exposing its translucent petals. Her early childhood was spent on the borders of the Amazon rain forest where the sight of the giant Macaws was an every day occurrence and where a walk in the park meant treading on carpets of tropical color.

A rather circuitous road brought her to Stockbridge, MA. for a time in her life and then to North Branford, CT., where she now has her studio and resides with her family.
