Penny Lewis Bogner The fine Art Paintings of PENNY LEWIS BOGNER are exquisite compositions of movement and light patterns that draw the viewer in. Her Palette is unique: Figure Paintings glow with delicate, transluccent color; gentle vibrations of warm against cool, and granulations of lush flowing jewel tones. BOGNER'S Creative Florals and 'IMAGINATIVE SLICES OF OUR ENVIRONMENT' paintings, as she refers to her landscapes, are made up of layer upon layer of glazed negative shapes, intricately woven to create an atmospheric depth of field that goes on and on.

Bogner, a perpetually joyful woman, exclaims: "This is what I was meant to do!"

Formally trained, Penny worked as a Graphic Design Artist for several years before devoting herself to full time painting in the late seventies.

In 1992, Bogner founded TREE HOUSE CANADA, An Art Studio, School and Gallery, devoted to the promotion and pursuit of the arts. TREE HOUSE CANADA is now Penny's working studio exclusively, where she can be found painting for hours most every day.

'BALLERINA BREAK'
30" X 22" COPYRIGHT 2003

I developed this painting from several quick sketches done in Sarasota, Florida of a lovely young ballerina named Tiger. She was charming and a delight to work with. I changed the pose slightly and elongated her limbs to make the composition more dramatic.

'JUST THINKING'
30" X 22" COPYRIGHT 2003

What woman hasn't rested in this position at some time or other. I made it very soft with edges fading into the background to emphasize her completely relaxed state I think it works, don't you?

"CONSTANT COMPANIONS"
30" X 22" COPYRIGHT 2003

Here is one of my IMAGINATIVE SLICES OF OUR ENVIRONMENT Paintings. I often use human feeling to title my imaginative landscape work. Two powerful old trees standing side by side for years, through sun, snow and sleet.

'CONTEMPORARY WOODS'
22" X 30 " COPYRIGHT 2002

I love this painting! It is so simple and fresh, and an excellent example of negative painting. Notice how the positive purple leaves against the white background become the focal point.

'FILTERED FOREST LIGHT'
22" X 30" COPYRIGHT 2003

This is another of my Imaginative works, painted mainly in the negative with just a few positive branches and leaves for contrast. It's all about the lovely lacey look sunlight gives when filtering through leaves and branches. There are many over glazes on this painting to show depth.

'SUN'S CARESS'

30" X 22" COPYRIGHT 2003

This is one of my favourite paintings! It's very soft, yet powerful! You can almost hear her quick intake of breath as she feels the warmth of the sun on her. I'm particularly happy with the abstracted shapes in the hands and the way the face fades in and out of focus.

BOGNER has studied with numerous outstanding contemporary watercolorists, and has developed a distinctive signature style all her own. Her work has been exhibited in Commercial and Public Galleries; Museums; Public Spaces and is in Collections all across Canada and in Florida.

RED

'RED'
20" X 14" COPYRIGHT 2003

This was painted directly from the model, which is unusual for me. I prefer to work from my quick sketches or I can easily get carried away with unimportant details and the painting becomes too tight. When I work from my sketches I allow my creativity to take over. However, I was particularly pleased with this painting, especially the composition and form.

NEW SPRING ATTIRE

'NEW SPRING ATTIRE'
22" X 30 " COPYRIGHT 2002

Here is one of my 'IMAGINATIVE SLICES OF OUR ENVIRONMENT' paintings. it is painted mainly in the negative; that is to say I painted around the trunks, leaves and branches. There are just a few positively painted leaves and branches to contrast. Can you pick them out? I wanted this to be an exciting, lacey, light and shadow composition.

'THE KICKBOXER'
30" X 22" COPYRIGHT 2003

This painting was done of one of my favourite models. She has beautifully defined muscles which I wanted to play up, but also show her utter femininity. I think I accomplished what I set out to do.

Award Winning Artist, PENNY LEWIS BOGNER, is now doing Personal Creative Body Portraits. This is not commissioned work, since there is no charge, and the model is under no obligation to purchase the finished painting, although she will have the first opportunity if she desires. Bogner does 2 or 3 quick sketches of the subject in her studio while they talk and have a coffee break. This takes about an hour and a half. The artist has complete control over how she will interpret the model's true essence. The model may choose to pose nude or partially draped and they always enjoy the creative experience once they realize how comfortable they are with Penny.

The Artist will do Personal Creative Body Portraits in Sarasota, Florida from mid January to mid April and in Palgrave, (just outside Toronto) Ontario from May to mid October. Contact Penny by Email at plbogner@aol.com.
