Anne Giffard - Le Francois

Anne was born in Paris, France, where she studied graphic design and illustration at the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Arts Decoratifs (ENSAD) graduating in "Visual Communication". Before immigrating to Canada in the early 1980's with her husband and children, Anne worked as a mural tapestry designer for the "Atelier d'Anais" in Paris and the "Atelier Pinton" in Aubusson, France. In Canada she started giving art classes and continued to develop her skills, using oil and acrilyc but mostly watercolour, as her favourite medium. In the early 1990's she accomplished a mural in Welland. Since she has published three open edition prints for the Niagara Region: 1)"Niagara Peninsula Impression" 2) for the Butterfly conservatory in Niagara Falls ("Niagara's Garden of Eden") 3) for Niagara Parks Greenhouses and tropical birds ("Niagara's Vision of Eden") Anne recently sold a large watercolour painting to Reif Estate Winery, ("Niagara's Winter Jewels") representing the ice wine industry in the region. Anne is very attached to the Niagara region, it is her home now, and is proud to be North American. Delicate beauty and fragility of nature has always been a predominant theme in all her art work. One of her last paintings: "Spring Jewel" has been accepted for exhibit in Open Water 2004 in Toronto with the Canadian Watercolour society.

Painting has become more of a psychological escape for me and is very therapeutic. It helps me be closer to nature and I want to share this passion of mine with others.
