DAVID M. RHEINHART

BACKGROUND

David Rheinhart has been painting watercolor for 35 years and has reached a maturity of style and ability few others acheive. He has mastered the fundamentals of watercolor painting to a point where one does not have to consciously think about principles - these come automatically. This allows a freedom of expression which results in fluid paintings without a labored appearance and which makes full use of the unique properties of the watercolor medium. He is able to create a loose, realistic interpretation of the subject without copying, be it landscape, seascape, or still life. David found early in his life that he could express himself by painting watercolors and that he had natural ability and talent in this medium. Inspiration came from the watercolors of Homer and Sargent whose traditional style appealed to him. While his paintings are in great demand locally, his goal is to be recognized nationally by the art community. Current efforts in this direction include a website for the marketing of prints, greeting cards, and an art calendar.
