Background

Effie has lived in South Florida since 1946, except for living for a short time in Atlanta in the 70‘s. She has lived on the beach or near water most of her life which reflects in her watercolor paintings of the sea and aquatic wildlife. She has been drawing and painting since the age of eight and is primarily self-taught with help from workshops by world famous watercolorists, Tony Couch and Jan Kunz. She is a member of Everglades Artists, Inc. and the Hollywood Art Guild participating in many local shows and cultural events. As an artist she attempts to preserve the beauty of our oceans and wildlife by using color and design to imitate the emotion and wonder that we feel and see today in our fragile environment.
