Water Media

Jo Ann , a Virginia Native now residing in Greenville, South Carolina, is a painter involved in the emotional use of watercolor and acrylic media. Her main interest is painting on location - giving her interpretation of the world around her. She is also an instructor in the approach and technique of painting with acrylics and watercolor. She has taught water-media techniques at Furman University, Greenville Technical College, The Greenville County Museum of Art and in many private workshops across the United States. In February, 1999, she will begin teaching "Exploring Acrylic" and "Introduction to Watercolor" at Greenville Tec. Her paintings are included in private and corporate collections throughout the United States, Europe and Asia. In addition, Jo Ann is a handmade paper-maker, experienced in the developement of unique papers to be used with her media. She also teaches paper-making in a workshop environment. Jo Ann has had her work accepted in numerous recent International Juried Exhibitions, i.e.: Louisiana Watercolor Society International Juried Competition - for 7 of the last 14 annual exhibits. 1998 Juried Exhibit - Spartanburg Artists Guuild, Spartanburg, SC. 1998, one person show - "Oregon: a Well Kept Secret" at the Spartanburg Museum of Art, Spartanburg, SC. 1998, one person show - Raymond James Gallery, Greenville, SC. Oregon's "Vistas & Vineyards" Juried Show in the State Capitol in Salem, Oregon - 1997. Annual Juried Exhibition - Corvallis Artists Guild, Oregon. Montana Watercolor Society Annual Juried Exhibition, 1993. Many group and one person shows over the past 20 years.
