Martha's lifelong love of art and math led her to degrees in Architecture and Civil Engineering. She then worked for an aerospace company for nine years and continued to enjoy art as a hobby. Sixteen years ago when her children were small she discovered watercolor and fell in love with the exciting and spontaneous medium. She has studied under many wonderful teachers and taught classes at the Greenville Art Museum in South Carolina. Martha is currently teaching at the Colorado Springs Fine Art Center where she enjoys sharing her personal discoveries in watercolor, mixed media and collage. Her work has been shown in galleries in Colorado and South Carolina as well as many local art shows. Her paintings are privately owned throughout the United States.

ARTIST STATEMENT

Martha Kisling is a Colorado artist who creates original landscape and floral paintings. Although she enjoys all aspects of watercolor painting, wet-in-wet is the most fascinating method for her. "Pure transparent color flows freely on the wet paper forming exciting shapes and patterns. The challenge is to then paint just enough details to create images and impressions and then let the viewer fill in the rest with their imagination."
