Award winning Honolulu artist Peggy Chun considers herself a whimsical artist, finding it difficult to take life too seriously. "One of my earliest attempts at painting a serious landscape resulted in floating cows. I found the ones on the ground, well, rather boring. The floating cow shadows were my favorite shapes." Peggy works in a variety of media including watercolor, acrylic, oil, photography, and collage, She earned her Liberal arts degree from Mundelein College of Loyola University in Chicago and studied with well known Honolulu artist, Gloria Foss. At the Honolulu Academy of Arts she studied with Barbera Britts, Marianne Au, and Dodie Warren. She has also studied under Colorado artist, Stephen Quiller. Her watercolors, acrylics and photographs have been accepted in 37 juried shows since 1989 and she has won many awards including the Jean Charlot Award for Excellence in Composition and Design. She has had 17 one woman shows and has participated in 15 group shows. Born in Lawton, Oklahoma, Peggy Chun has been a resident of Hawai`i since 1969 and lives in Honolulu. Peggy and Eric Keala Chun, her son, often work together as fellow muralists under the name Chun & Son.
