lori ann tharp was born in san mateo, california and raised in both los gatos, and the santa cruz mountains of california. lori sold her first watercolor at the age of 11 and from then on knew she could call herself an "artist". mainly self taught with a few local community art classes. lori has been making art in all types of medium. however in 1994 she decided watercolor was her main passion. she began painting and photographing local surf spots all along the nothern california coast with a main focus on santa cruz.
