Born in Berlin of Russian parents, Lola began her art education in New York City. She holds a diploma from Parson School of Design, a B.F.A. and an M.F.A. from Syracuse University, both in painting, and has further studies across the country. Concurrent with these studies, Lola has established a multi-level art teaching career spanning both coasts.

Constantly aware of her direction, she cast her inspirational net, and in 1981 she moved to California. Lola's major passion is water-media, and natural, organic forms are a constant source of exploration.

She prefers an intimate view that focuses on lush, lyrical shapes, that display a sensuality that borders on the erotic. Her recent works reflect a continuing departure from the direct influence of nature, into an ethereal atmosphere that searches for what to reveal and what to conceal.

Lola Juris exhibits widely. Her most recent awards are The St. Cuthbert's Mill, U.K., award at the '98 Watercolor West National Exhibition in Los Angeles; and the Potpourri award at the '99 San Diego Watercolor International Exhibition. The New Cannon Gallery in Carlsbad, Ca. featured Juris' work in their first show.

Lola is a frequent juror and popular teacher in San Diego County, holding classes at Palomar College, San Dieguito Adult School. Her paintings have been published in San Diego Home & Garden Magazine, and two books by Rockport Publishers: "Best of Watercolor Painting - Painting Color" and "Floral Inspirations". Her work is in the collection of Union Bank, Ca., Kassel Imports, N.J., and numerous private collections.

A recent movie, starring Julia Roberts, and titled, "Erin Brockovitch", included two paintings by Lola Juris.
